The one week training course entitled “International Effective Inspection Practices” - developed and organized by CENS and held at CENS headquarters in Bratislava - came to a successful conclusion on 3 June. Under the leadership of F. Kaufman, from the Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate (HSK), and P. Uhrik, from Slovakia’s Nuclear Regulatory Authority (ÚJD SR), this training had the primary purpose of presenting and elucidating the fundamentals of an advanced inspection concept, establishing what an effective inspection means, and improving the professionalism of inspectors. Each topic involved teamwork in the form of practical exercises and case studies.
For the 17 participants from Bulgaria, Germany, Mexico, Pakistan, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Switzerland and Ukraine, the course provided an excellent opportunity to discuss and share experiences of the inspection concepts used in different countries. It also gave them the chance to perform a case study on an inspection carried out at NPP Jaslovské Bohunice. The participants were extremely satisfied with the training and their feedback questionnaires gave it an overall rating of 94%.
